An Enviable Lawn

Not sure if I ever thought Nathan and I would be associated with a lawn that other people would admire.  Neither of us were good at, interested in, or really involved much with lawn care growing up (save a summer job that involved Nathan + lots of mulching), and having a lawn to maintain was one of the things we were most anxious about when we bought our own house.  We considered hiring lawn care people, but realized it probably wasn't the most fiscally responsible move.  No, we would have to do the work ourselves...for better or worse.  Only a few weeks after moving in, though, we own a new lawn mower and trimmer, working sprinklers, and what seems to be shaping up into a nice looking yard.

This weekend, Danny and Sherry came back down and the tasks at hand included painting and organizing the garage, putting up two ceiling fans, adding one more shelf to the pantry, and swapping out the pine straw around the trees and shrubs in our front yard for red mulch with stone pavers.

Luckily it was shady most of the morning on Saturday, so the team got lots done without getting too sunburned or exhausted.  I rewarded everyone with homemade panini sandwiches and dessert Saturday evening, and before we knew it, the weekend was over.  Busy, but fun and productive.

Here are some new photos of the front of the house.  We were proud when neighbors came around to tell us how nice our yard looked. Who would have imagined that? :)

Check out those stone pavers and bright red mulch!

Lookin' fresh :)
